Knowledge and the Paradigm of "Not-enough"

Knowledge and the Paradigm of "Not-enough"

Do you have imposter syndrome? Are you perplexed about the hypocrisies in the academic research process that nobody wants to talk about? Or just confused by why human civilization cannot achieve equality, sustainability, and world peace despite having so much knowledge? Watch this webinar replay lecture to understand why and how our systems of knowledge production keep us stuck in self-doubt and greater destructive patterns and ways we can go about mending them.

This presentation addresses how knowledge hierarchy (in the predominant Western social structure) has created a faulty perception of the world that has led to destructive social and psychological systems. Consequently, the life force that enlivens and nurtures the world (anima mundi, "soul of the world") becomes deadened. At the root of this faulty perception is a “not-enough” paradigm: we are not enough, we don’t have enough, and we must compete, commodify, and separate humanity from the rest of nature to compensate. Our systems of higher education perpetuate this paradigm through hierarchical and patriarchal ways of producing and disseminating knowledge. To heal our collective social wounds, a re-balancing of the archetypal "feminine" and "masculine" ways of knowing (e.g., intuition vs. empiricism) must be made.

To live with 'soul' is a choice, and not a scientific inquiry. This is the opportunistic time to re-assess our participation in destructive systems that deaden our sense of being and re-align ourselves to a more holistic way of understanding the world.
